The film shows a large city thoroughfare with crowds of people watching a parade of military personnel (army, navy, and marine), fraternal organizations, ecclesiastical groups, and civic leaders. There are more than a thousand paraders. Following them are four horse-drawn open carriages and then a large hearse drawn by four black horses. The camera position shifts and most of the paraders can be seen for a second time. The film ends on a wide-angle profile shot of the hearse and four black horses standing still. Hiram Cronk, a veteran of the War of 1812, died at the age of 105; he was thought to be the last surviving veteran of that war and so was given an elaborate funeral.
