Support secondaire 29.100 x 20.800 cmPortée et contenu :Half length portrait of the Earl of Durham, with his arm resting against a support. Lord Durham became governor general of British North America in 1838; he was author of the "Durham Report.", This work has been tentatively identified as the "Portrait of Lord Durham" mentioned in an inventory of Col. Macpherson's house. It was once framed., The artist is probably James Stewart, who exhibited portraits at the Royal Academy in London. Robinson was active in New York City, and engraved several works relating to the Canadas in the 1830's, including the "Canadian Exiles" in the Archives collection.
