A medal commemorating the peace made between Great Britain and the United States with the signing of the Treaty of Ghent in 1814. The signing of this treaty brought the War of 1812 to a close and restored amicable relations between the two nations involved.

The obverse side of the medal displays an allegory of Peace as a woman, crossing the Atlantic Ocean on a shell, holding a laurel sprig in her left hand while beams of light stream forth from her right hand.

The reverse side of the medal displays an image of a dove, symbolizing peace, hovering above a wreath of palm branches tied with an elaborate bow. The wreath encapsulates the legend of what the medal is representative of (see signatures and inscriptions, reverse).
