Promotional film produced for the C.N.R. on the Rockies concentrating on Jasper, Alberta and area.~The town was named after Jasper Hawes whose cabin was the only stop for the fur traders. Eventually, the railroad brought settlement to the area and the village of Jasper.~Set aside in the early part of the 19th century, Jasper Park Lodge is located three miles from the village. The main building is claimed to be the largest log structure in the world accommodating over 600 guests. The lodge features an 18 hole golf course, swimming pool and tennis courts and, at the time of this film, was the largest of all the parks at 4,200 square miles.~Fishing is popular at Maligne Lake stocked with trout from the government hatchery each year. Mount Edith Cavell is also a popular attraction which the narrator announces to be, "The most magnificent monument ever dedicated to a woman's memory".~New highways running through the region connect travellers to nearby sites of interest. Regarding the potential hazard to wildlife presented by the traffic the narrator suggests, "To all the wildlife in the park, the coming of the highway has brought no threat of danger. The creatures of the wilderness are protected and live out their lives without fear of man".~The Columbia Icefields - a highway journey from Jasper - features skiing, mountain climbing and is a popular tourist visiting area. The film concludes with the quote, "Your ticket to Jasper is a passport to a summer land of infinite mood and variety. To a land of loveliness unequalled in the world". <10mn 05s>
