Painted portrait of Nichoals Honryansky exhibited at the Ontario Society of Artists' Exhibition "Artists Paint Artists" of the spring of 1944. Work by Dorothy Stevens (1888-1966).
Dorothy Stevens (1888-1966) was born in Toronto, and studied portraiture and printmaking abroad, before returning to Toronto to settle as a portrait painter and printmaker Nicholas Hornyansky, born in Budapest, Hungary in 1896, studied painting and portraiture in Europe before coming to Canada in 1929, and becoming one of Canada's foremost printmakers He taught printmaking at the Ontario College of Art from 1944 to 1958. He was president of the Canadian Society of Painter-Etchers and Engravers when this painting was done in 1944 He died in 1965
