Land Forces Doctrine and Training System : In a letter to the Minister of National Defence (MND) dated 28 August, 2000, the Chief of the Defence Staff proposed to create a new formation, in Kingston, Ont., called the Land Force Doctrine and Training System (LFDTS). LFDTS was to become the "centre of excellence for Land Force training." On 5 September, 2000, the MND authorized LFDTS as a Regular Force formation allocated to Land Force Command. In April, 2001, the Combat Training Centre (CTC) in Gagetown N.B. will come under command of LFDTS.
LFDTS, a strategic level organization, is responsible for overall command and control of the Army's training system and the long-range planning of Army training and doctrine development, including initiatives in simulation and digitization. In essence, LFDTS is responsible for the intellectual development and training of the Army, with a focus on strategic resource management in the 2 -- 20 year planning horizon.
As a formation, LFDTS comprises four units: LFDTS Headquarters, the Peace Support Training Centre, the Canadian Land Force Command and Staff College, and 2 Electronic Warfare Squadron. As of April, 2001, the training arm of CTC became part of LFDTS. Accordingly, LFDTS is a mix of formations, units, schools and staff branches with responsibilities, on behalf of the Chief of Land Staff, ranging from the tactical to the strategic.Information additionnelle :Versements complémentaires :Further accruals are expected.Source :GouvernementAncien no de référence archivistique :RG24-G-14-81 -
