British actor-manager Sir John Martin-Harvey made eight tours of Canada between the years of 1903 and 1932; he was much admired by author Robertson Davies, who collected Martin-Harvey's personal correspondence, playscripts and general theatrical material. He also used this material as a basis for his character Sir John Tresize in the novel The World of Wonders.
