Roll one; "The massed grey lines of German infantry were repelled again and again by our unwaverable troops." Long shot of a battlefield. A wounded soldier is being bandaged and led into a dressing station. A wounded soldier is handed a cigarette. "Through all the scarlet horrors of war was interwoven the threads of a sweet compassion by the Padre forever tending on the needy." A Padre kneels to console a wounded soldier lying on a stretcher. The Padre writes into a notepad (taking dictation for a letter?). Shots of infantry crossing a field with weapons drawn. Stretcher bearers help the wounded along the trenches. Shot of a wounded soldier with a bandaged face. One of the wounded is carried on the back of another. "Gradually into our net were gathered shoals of prisoners, and then we knew we had not fought in vain." Wounded POW's are escorted, and shown laying on the ground.~Roll two; An artillery crew loads and fires a cannon. Shot of a battlefield and bodies. A long artillery cannon is pulled by a horse-drawn wagon. German POW's, one with a cigarette stare at the camera. Others sit with gas mask canisters around their necks. POW's march along a road. Wounded being loaded onto stretchers. Wounded being carried. Shots of POW's. Shot of a long road with explosions in the background. Troops in a trench checking their weapons. Two infantrymen with wire possible for communications or explosives. POW's carrying wounded. "The hungry Hun gets a square meal of hot stew." Escorted POW's queue up for a meal (sign in the background reads, THIS ROAD IS CLOSED). "A few of the Huns who didn't get out of their trench." Shots of the enemy dead. "Some of the captured Prussians are marched to Railhead, for transportation to England." Shot of prisoner's as they are marched through town.~Roll three; "And many hearts throbbed with new emotion as numberless khaki-clad heroes cross that desolation in their quest of the World's salvation." A front line trench with troops crossing by. "...And never once in that agonised line was the spirit of mercy absent, while the Red Cross, in it's infinite compassion, brought healing to the stricken warrior." Red Cross personnel wearing armbands load wagons with stretchers bearing the wounded onto a Red Cross truck. "A passage over the roads was oftentimes impossible, for they were ruined by numberless mine craters." Craters, rubble, infantryman. Ruins, a mule is led with barrels traversing through the surrounding wreckage. Troops walk with mules toward the camera. Shattered buildings. "The bombardment of Courcelette is intensified, to prepare for our coming infantry attack." Shot of a large artillery cannon and an explosion in the distance. Loading a large shell (written onto the base of the shell it reads, ONE FOR FRITZ). Shot of the cannon and an explosion in the distance. A gun crew with a winch firing a gun. "A front line trench observation post." Three soldiers coordinate with the use of a small mirror device to see over the trench while others use a pair of binoculars, and a notepad.
