This is a preliminary record, please consult the linked accessions. Series consists of records created by the Audit and Evaluation Branch of the Program Evaluation Directorate of the Department of the Secretary of State between 1972-1987. The records are evaluation reports written either by government employees or by private consulting companies concerning a number of programs funded by the department. Each report contains a comprehensive account and analysis of the program at that particular time of its existence, and also recommendations for its future. There are no file numbers on these reports, only the program title and the year of the report. Examples of programs which received such evaluation reports are Katimavik, Open House Canada, Voluntary Action Program, Canada Day, State Ceremonial, Canadian Studies, French Language Programs, Native Politics, Youth Employment and Hostels.
