Dunlop talks about his grandfather Dunlop who settled at Mackey Station and was a supplier to the lumber trade in the upper Ottawa Valley and operated a hotel, stable and farm as well. Speaking of his early life, Dunlop recalls his first job as a youngster loading and unloading the large bucket that was pulled across the river with a pulley and was packed with supplies for the lumber camps. He continues with his work in the timber trade, his work on the railroad repairing tracks and his mining job at the Frood Mine in Sudbury. Part of his interview is devoted to the discussion of the technology of the lumber and mining trades.
