The "Mingay Historical Project" was launched by Eldorado in early 1976, with the work of RC Powell and DC Hanright, to assess whether there was sufficient material to write a history of the company. In December 1976, Jane Mingay was hired as a full-time researcher for this project. The project concluded that there was sufficient information for a book to be written, "with a reasonable expectation that the book would find a commercial market". The final report was entitled 'Eldorado's Historical Resources'.

Sub-series consists of files determined by the Mingay Historic Project to have value and which could not be returned to their original place in the file system (files which could be returned were). Topics include the Beaverlodge, Port Radium and Port Hope operations; gold mining; the Glassco Commmission; memorandum to Cabinet; transportation; transcripts of interviews, etc. The final report, 'Eldorado's Historical Resources' (volume 155), details the files considered important by the project.
