Fonds consists of oral history interviews recorded in Vancouver in 1983 by journalism student, Alison Taylor, of retired journalists Helen Bateson, Nikki Moir and Evelyn Caldwell about their careers in journalism in British Columbia.

Taylor, Alison, 1959- : Dr. Alison Taylor was born in 1959. She obtained her M.A. at Carleton University in 1985 on the history of women in the field of CBC public affairs programming. In 1990, she earned a M.Ed. at Queen's University on the topic of women and employment policy in Ontario School boards and in 1996 she was awarded a Ed.D. by the University of Toronto on education for industrial purposes in Alberta schools. Her educational background includes degrees in business administration, industrial relations, and the sociology of education and her research interests span the areas of sociology and politics of education, with a focus on equity issues and the relationship between policy and practice. Specific research topics that she has explored include: business involvement in education and school-business partnerships, religion in public schools, and school-to-work transition programs. Among the many publications she has authored are: The politics of educational reform in Alberta (2001), Fellow travelers and True Believers : a case study of religion and politics in Alberta schools in the Journal of Education Policy, (2000 with D. Neu), Funding mechanisms, cost drivers, and the distribution of education funds in Alberta : a case study in the Alberta Journal of Educational Research (2000), Spitting in the wind? : the demise of a school-business partnership in the International Journal of Educational Development (2000) and many others. Dr. Taylor is currently the Assistant Professor of Educational Policy Studies in the Faculty of Education of the University of Alberta. Website: 206890
