The Battle of Tunisia where the Americans and the British fought the Axis forces during WWII.~The British 8th Army bombs the Mareth line. British soldiers pray beside a treee and receive sacraments from an army chaplain dressed in robes. Axis soldiers surrender in droves holding arms above their heads. British troops parade through a town victoriously playing the bagpipes. Jewish Tunisians remove their Star of David badges in front of British soldiers. A headquarters sign saying "Reserved for the Military" in German and Italian is torn down by a crowd of local Arabs. Field Marshal Montgomery is paraded and hailed by the population. He is offered a bouquet of flowers and is kissed by the female purveyor. American and British soldiers joyfully fraternize in the North African desert. General Eisenhower, in uniform, and Field Marshal Montgomery, out of uniform, meet on the battlefield. Axis soldiers surrender on Tunis streets. Nazi General Fritz Krause is taken captive. Other Axis generals are shown surrendering. The Americans enter the town of Bizerte triumphantly. The British are passionately hailed and embraced as they enter Tunis whose streets are lined with inhabitants.~There is footage of General Eisenhower in helmet and great coat walking and consulting with a fellow officer; of Field Commander U.S. Patton, in close up, picking up his field glasses; of British 1st Army Commander General Anderson and US Field Commander General Bradley, in close up; of the Allied drive on the town of Bizerte; of fighting in Tunis; and of General Eisenhower in a salute at a ceremony.
