Press conference held by Sinclair Stevens, Minister for Regional Industrial Expansion; Anthony Hampson, President of the Canadian Development Corporation; and Paul Marshall, President of the Canadian Development Investment Corporation. In his opening statement Sinclair Stevens announces the sale of government shares in the Canadian Development Corporation in keeping with the Conservative budget which called for the privatization of Crown holdings that no longer serve a public policy purpose. In the subsequent question period the following topics are discussed: the restrictions placed on the amount of shares any one individual, group, or foreign investor may own; the market price of the shares; what to expect for other companies with respect to privatization; the DeHavilland situation; and the desire to maintain some pools of Canadian entrepreneurial capital.
