Fonds consists of George A.E. Chapman's manuscript, 1940-1951, predominant 1950-1951, on the Canadian cents issue of 1859, for articles published in BNA Topics during the late Nineteen Fifties and early Nineteen Sixties.

Fonds also contains 25 photographic negatives depicting stampless covers from the postal history collections of the late Charles de Volpi, a prominent Montreal art collector, author, and philatelist, that were used to illustrate a series of articles by de Volpi that appeared in BNA Topics; and ten copy prints from these negatives, incorporating images of all the above covers.

Fonds also contains two photographs taken from the same negative depicting the late Frank Campbell of Royal Oak, Michigan, a prominent philatelic writer and researcher, who specialized in the postal history of Canada and British North America; and an original negative for the above photographs. The photographs contain the following inscription on the reverse: "Frank W. Campbell - April 10, 1982 - Royal Oak, Michigan - Photo by Mike Street".

British North America Philatelic Society : The British North America Philatelic Society, Ltd., BNAPS, is a philatelic specialist group for collectors and researchers of the stamps, postal markings, and postal history of Canada, the pre-Confederation colonies, and Newfoundland.

BNAPS was founded in 1943 by Mr. Jack Levine who assembled a group of other philatelists who shared his interests in the postage stamps and postal history of British North America. The constitution and by-laws were approved at the first regular meeting that year. The society journal BNA Topics was launched in 1944, the Sales Department was started the same year, the Society established a Library in 1945, and published its first Yearbook in 1946, and held its first convention and exhibition in 1949.

The society became The British North America Philatelic Society Ltd. in 1987, a tax-exempt corporation, accompanied by a move of its registered office to Wisconsin and new By-laws. In 1993, the Society established a Speakers Bureau to provide speakers for organized philatelic shows or other meetings scheduled by BNAPS, and an Ambassadorship Program to to staff Society tables at these shows. The same year, the BNAPS Library was dispersed, with many items going to the Canadian Postal Archives library and the American Philatelic Research Library, and other items auctioned off. BNAPS has grown to publish both a journal and a newsletter (BNAPortraitS); and include numerous departments; committees; regional groups; and specialized study groups, the latter with their own elected officials and newsletters. Sometimes these newsletters are developed into specialized handbooks produced by the BNAPS Handbook Committee. There are also philatelic exchange circuits for members to dispose of unwanted BNA material and add new items to their collections, each circuit with its own manager. .

The manuscript by George A.E. Chapman (accession 1997-253 DAP) was given to the BNAPS library by Hans Reiche in 1971 or 1972. It was a gift from BNAPS to the National Postal Museum (NPM accession number unknown), via then BNAPS librarian Mike Squirell, 29 May 1975. It was later acquired by the Canadian Postal Archives (and initially included in accession 1989-565)., The 25 photographic negatives and ten copy prints depicting covers from Charles de Volpi's collection (accession 1992-252 DAP) were gifts from BNAPS to the National Postal Museum (NPM accession number unknown), via H. Michael Street, Ancaster, Ontario, then editor of BNA Topics, July 1982. They were later acquired by the Canadian Postal Archives (and initially included in accession 1989-565)., The two photographs and one negative depicting Frank Campbell (accession 1992-253 DAP) were gifts from BNAPS to the National Postal Museum (NPM accession number unknown), via H. Michael Street, Ancaster, Ontario, then editor of BNA Topics, 15 June 1982. They were later acquired by the Canadian Postal Archives (and initially included in accession 1989-565).
