Canadian Northern Coal and Ore Dock Company : The Canadian Northern Coal and Ore Dock Company, Limited was incorporated on 17 February 1905 under Ontario Letters Patent for the purpose of constructing a coal and ore dock at Port Arthur, Ontario. The major motive was to ensure a convenient supply of coal for the Canadian Northern Railway, but it was also hoped to develop an iron ore traffic through Port Arthur. Capital stock was initially divided equally between Mackenzie, Mann and Company and the Pittsburgh Coal Company. A dock and loading facilities were constructed at a cost of ,000,000 on reclaimed land at Port Arthur and leased to the Canadian Northern Railway. Eventually, Mackenzie and Mann acquired the Pittsburgh Coal Company shares. After nationalization the Canadian Northern Railway acquired title and stock on 20 July 1920. Operations of the facility ceased in 1926 and, on 31 March 1942, the charter of the Canadian Northern Coal and Ore Dock Company, Limited lapsed. RG30 General Inventory
