Sub-series contains minutebooks, legal records and financial statements and annual reports for Caldwell Linen Mills Limited. The minutebooks document the activities of both the independent company and the Dominion Textile subsidiary. Shareholders' minutes are included with the minutebooks after 1941. Legal records consist of letters patent, files on succession duties and the reorganization of the company under Dominion Textile's control. Annual financial statements and shareholder statements reflect the financial health of the company as it operated under Dominion Textile. Additional records relating to events at the Caldwell plant after it was acquired by Dominion Textile can be found in the Dominion Textile Inc. series.

Caldwell Linen Mills : Caldwell Linen Mills Limited was a family business established by H.H. Caldwell in 1923. Located in Iroquois, Ontario, the firm was one of the pioneers in linen manufacturing in Canada. The company initially manufactured fine table linens, then in 1941, expanded its mills for the production of terry towels and other cotton goods complimentary to the linen business.

Dominion Textile began buying substantial blocks of Caldwell Linen shares in 1949, but did not acquire the company until 1956. Dominion Textile initially operated Caldwell as a subsidiary company, later absorbing operations into the Caldwell Division of Dominion Textile. The original Caldwell mill was expropriated to make way for the construction of the St. Lawrence Seaway in the 1950s. A new plant was built nearby in 1956. The mill continued to operate into the 1990s.
