The fresh, fine climate is ideal for growing all types of cereals and fruit. However, there is also some sheep breeding, hog and cattle raising, and fur breeding, along with fishingfor lobster, herring and mackerel. The people of the Island, descended from Scottish, English and French settlers, are ardent readers and are serviced by travelling librairies.
