The Canada Labour Relations Board's current responsibilities under Part IV and V of the Canada Labour Code are to provide mediation and conciliation services in labour disputes, to hear cases involving possible infractions of labour laws brought by unions and individual employees in federally-regulated workplaces, and to certify unions in workplaces under federal jurisdiction.
The records in this accession consist of central registry files dating from 1973 to 1995. The records are case files documenting Canada Labour Relations Board hearings on such matters as applications for review or amendment of Board orders (file block 530), applications for certification of bargaining agents (file block 555), applications for the revocation of bargaining rights (file block 565), and complaints alleging violations of Part 1 of the Canada Labour Code.
