Series consists of publicity and personnel files of commissioners of the National Capital Commission Planning Committee, the Federal District Commission, and the National Capital Commission. While the files are primarily biographical information sheets and press releases, there is some correspondence with the Director of the Information Division (Walter Bowker - FDC); and Peter Ackroyd - NCC) regarding the publishing of the functions and accomplishments of the Commissions by the regional Commissioners across Canada. There are some newspaper clippings and draft speeches reflecting such activity.

Canada. National Capital Commission. Information and Historical Division : The Information Division (1959-1962) was responsible for communications with the public on the work, plans and activities of the National Capital Commission and consisted of four business units: The Publicity and Information section was responsible for preparing NCC publications, arranging media and public appearances and issuing press releases. The Model Displays and Exhibits section was responsible for developing and maintaining the model of the National Capital Plan and exhibition space at the Daly Building. The Special Reports section was responsible for the preparation of special reports. The Historical Research section was responsible for the delivery of historical research services including researching the historical significance of buildings and designing commemorative plaques. The Division also acted as Secretariat for the Historical Advisory Committee of the Commission. In 1962, the division was renamed the Information and Historical Division and consisted of the Public Information and Publicity section, the Displays and Exhibits section, Lectures section, Photographic Records section, and Historical Research section. The Division was renamed Information Services in 1969.
