Series consists of maps, plans and sketches in the Haldimand papers that were identified through the 'London Office Index'. The index included information pertaining to the transcripts of the Haldimand papers.
The microfilmed originals may be consulted by referring to certain 'A' reels. The microfilmed transcripts may be viewed on specific 'H' reels. The following is a detailed description of this series.
The letters and account of Ordnance at Pensacola provide two plans of the garrison and citadel of Pensacola, ca. 1771-1773, (Add. MSS. 21675, microfilm reel A-613 or B 15, reel H-1430.)
The 'Journals of Exploring, Expeditions, Maps and Plans' provide thirteen plans, sketches or maps relating to: Salsbury, Tyconderoga, Lake Ontario, the siege of Quebec, Massachusetts, Sandusky, Fort Pitt, a road from Newcastle to Chestertown, Niagara and the disposition of General Gage's troops, 1750 to 1773, (Add. MSS 21686, ff. 1, 30-33, 68-81, microfilm reel A-615 or B 26, reel H-1432).
Correspondence with officers commanding at Michilimackinac provide a sketches or plans of the fort, the works and church on Michilimackinac Island, 1784-1785. (Add. MSS. 21758, ff. 265-267, 370, microfilm reel A-680, or B 98, reel H-1446).
Letters and drafts relating to the Upper Posts contain a sketch of the Fort at Oswego, ca. 1779. (Add. MSS. 21759, f. 40, microfilm reel A-680, or B 99, reel H-1446).
Correspondence with various Indian residents includes a 'plan de la région St. François fait par Joseph Louys, 1 avril 1778. (Add. MSS. 21777, ff. 29-30, microfilm reel A-686 or B 117, reel H-1450).
Correspondence with Lieutenant Governor Hamilton, and papers at Detroit include Henry Duvernet's plan of Fort Sackville (Post of St. Vincennes), 1778. (Add. MSS. 21782, f. 167, microfilm reel A-687 or B 122, reel 1451).
Correspondence with Major J. Ross and others at Cataraqui include two sketches, one of the falls of the Cataraqui River and the other of the Wharf in Navy Bay, 1783-1784. (Add. MSS. 21786, ff. 16 and 160, microfilm reel A-688, or B 126, reel H-1452).
Letters from the Governor of Nova Scotia and the officers commanding at Halifax include a plan of the Penobscot River, 14 Aug. 1779. (Add. MSS. 21809, ff. 72-75, microfilm reel A-742, or B 149, reel H-1650). However, the plan was separated from the transcripts.
Correspondence with officers of the Engineers include a plan of a piece of ground and buildings, Lachine, ca. 19 Feb. 1781. (Add. MSS. 21814, f. 431, microfilm reel A-744, or, B 154, reel H-1651).
Correspondence with Colonel Macbean and officers of the ordnance includes a pen and ink sketch, ca. Feb. 1780. (Add. MSS. 21816, f. 167v, microfilm reel A-745 or B 156, reel H-1651).
Letters from officers of the Loyalists include a rough pen and ink sketch by Major Edward Jessup to illustrate his proposed settlement, 1783. (Add. MSS. 21822, ff. 97v-98, microfilm reel A-749 or B 162, reel H-1653). This document was separated from the transcripts.
Surveys of settlements for the Loyalists include a 'plan des environs de Catarakui . . . by JF Holland,' ca. 1783. (add. MSS. 21829, ff. 12-13, microfilm reel A-752, or, B 169, reel H-1655). Also includes maps of land south of Lake Ontario chosen by the Mohawks, of the new settlement at Niagara, of the district between Lake Erie and Lake Ontario showing land purchased by the Mississaugas, sketch map to accompany Capt. Sherwood's journal from Montreal to Cataraqui and a map of a part of the harbour of Cataraqui, 1783, (Add. MSS. 21829, ff. 30, 71-77, microfilm reel A-752 or B 169, reel H-1655).
Papers of Secret Intelligence from various parts include a map of the district between Ticonderoga and Crown Point, 1777; a rough pen and ink map intended to guide John Oaks from Three rivers to New England, ca. Feb. 1779, and a rough sketch map in red chalks...Lake Champlain, ca. 1775 to 1782, (Add. MSS. 21841, ff. 32, 206v-207v, and f 216, microfilm reel A-764 or B 181, reel H-1737).
Papers relating to State Prisoners and Suspected Persons contain a rough pen and ink sketch of part of Canada, 1779; and a rough sepia sketch, partly coloured, of the Ohio, 1779, (Add. MSS. 21844, ff. 321-322 and 323, microfilm reel A-765, or B 184, part 2, reel H-1738.
Correspondence with Colonel Thomas Carleton includes a plan of a part of Montreal showing the boundaries of the King's land, within and without the garrison, 1778 to 1784. (Add. MSS. 21848, ff 420v-422, or B 188, reel H- 1739). This item was separated from the transcripts (B.S. 17).
Correspondence with Hugh Finlay and Thomas Ainslie includes three items: sketch of the road to avoid the hill and ferry of Jacques Cartier, a map of the post road from Quebec to Point aux Trembles and a map of the road by Ste Foix and Cap Rouge, 1778 and 1780, (Add. MSS. 21860, ff 26v-27, 43v-44 and 142v, microfilm reel A- 772, or B 200, part 1, reel H-1740 and H-1741). All three of these items (B.S. 18, 19 and 20) have been been separated from the transcripts.
Papers and correspondence relating to the Gaspé and dependencies contain two sketches: a rough sketch map of certain lands in the Bay of Gaspé, ca. Sept. 1784, and a sketch of certain lands on both sides of the River Gaské, ca. Sept. 1784, (Add. MSS. 21862, ff. 168v-169v, and f 177, microfilm reel A-773, or B 202, reel H-1741).
