Fonds consists of Uren's correspondence as an employee of the Department of Munitions and Supply with various companies and government departments such as the Imperial Munitions Board and the Wartime Industries Control Board. Fonds also consists of Uren's correspondence received when he was chairman of the Dominion Coal Board as well as a book of remembrance and relevant correspondence and newspaper clippings which document his death in 1964.

The fonds also contains photographs of Wilbur Edward Uren, his family and various collegues, such as W. Frederick Bull, C.D. Howe, H.M.C. Gordon, and Paul Comtois. The photos are by l'Office national du film du Canada, News Picture of Canada, Macnewil Studio, and Associated Screen News Ltd.

Also included are four medals, which were awarded to Uren, consisting of the Order of the British Empire Medal, 1943; a miniature O.B.E. Medal; a miniature Coronation Medal, 1953; and the Oddfellows Medal, 1914.

Uren, Wilbur Edward, 1891-1964 : Wilbur Edward Uren was born on 4 April 1892 at Lead, South Dakota. He graduated from the University of Michigan. Uren came to Canada in 1914.

During the First World War, Uren was a member of the Imperial Munitions Board. Throughout the intervening years he was associated with the following firms: Shell (1914-1919), Briggs and Turivas (1919-1924), Stobie Forlong (1924-1930), Goodyear Tire and Rubber Co. (1930-1937), and Draper Dobie and Co. (1938-1940).

Wilbur Uren joined the Canadian public service in 1940. During World War II, Uren was Director General of Priorities in the Department of Munitions and Supply and subsequently was that Department's Deputy minister. He was chairman of the Dominion Coal Board from 1947 until his retirement in 1961.

Wilbur Uren received several awards which included being made a member (1943) and officer (1946) of the Order of the British Empire.
