Canairelief : Canairelief was founded in December 1968 by the Presbyterian Church in Canada and Oxfam Canada to deliver food and medical supplies to the starving people of Biafra. Four Super-Constellation aircraft were purchased from Nordair. They flew during 1969 from the Portuguese Island of Sao Tome to Uli airport in Biafra on night flights.

The flights and supplies were financed by private donations, church organizations and Oxfam of Canada and Britain. Both Protestant and Roman Catholic churches were involved with much aid coming from such countries as Scandinavia, Germany, Switzerland, the Netherlands and the United States, as well as Canada.

The Chairman of Canairelief was Eoin S. MacKay. Dr. Edward H. Johnson who was Moderator of the Presbyterian Church in Canada in 1969 was vice-chairman.

The records accumulated by the late Dr. E.H. Johnson were transferred from his offices at the Presbyterian Board of World Missions through Dr. Eoin S. MacKay and Mrs. E.H. Johnson in 1982.
