MacLean relating to his duties as managing director of the Toronto World, volume 1. Photographic material consists of unofficial and official portraits and snapshots of groups of people and of the family of William Findlay MacLean; formal portrait of William Findlay MacLean; boating parties; boat at sea; railway bridge at Bent; church portal; unidentified army corps before an unidentified government building; two postcards.

Maclean, W. F. (William Findlay), 1854-1929 : William Findlay MacLean, journalist, member of the House of Commons, was born in 1854 at Ancaster, Canada West, and received his education from the University of Toronto. He was both a well-known journalist who established the Toronto World in 1880 and a prominent politician who sat in the House of Commons as a Conservative Member for York East and South York from 1892 to 1925. He was a persistent advocate of public ownership of railways and other franchises.
