Fonds consists primarily of technical paper offprints, conference reports and planning documents relating to a Trans-Canada electric grid, long distance power transmission, electrical generation and power equipment. There is a small amount of correspondence on the need and understanding of the work of Paul Ackerman, a Canadian engineer with very advanced ideas on the protection of integrated electrical generation and long distance transmission systems from service interruption. Some material relating to Shawinigan Water and Power Company Limited where Way spent his career and rose to the position of member of the Board of Directors, Senior Vice-president and Chief Engineer.

Way, William Russell, b. 1896 : William Russell Way was born in 1896 at North Bay, Ont. In 1918, he graduated from McGill University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering and began a long and influential career with the Shawinigan Water and Power Co. Ltd. He started as Assistant Engineer in the Operating Department of the Lead Office in Montreal. Mr. Way advanced to various positions in Shawinigan Falls and Montreal, including Chief System Operator at Shawinigan Falls in 1924, Assistant Superintendent in 1944 and by 1951 had become Vice President. In 1957, he joined the Board of Directors and held the position of Senior Vice-President, Director and Chief Engineer until his retirement in 1963.
