This progress report on the Thompson industrial and community project is meant to introduce the listener to Thompson, Manitoba. There is a great deal of detail given about the specifications and attractions of the new town that is springing up out of the wilderness, and about the mine, mill and smelter themselves, such as the "sulphide anode process" and the use of hydro-electric power from the Kelsey plant on the Nelson river. There is an interview with James C. Parlee, manager of Inco's Manitoba operations, and a lengthy interview with Dr. John F. Thompson, Inco Honorary Chairman, in which he discusses such things as the uses of nickel, the new town and project that bear his name, his early career, youth, and the history of Inco. <29mn 25s>
