Fonds consists of correspondence, 1914-1963, with C.D. Howe, R.B. Bryce, John Diefenbaker, Louis St-Laurent, Vincent Massey and Pauline Vanier; report and memoranda on outstanding war accounts between Canada, the United States and the United Kingdom, 1948-1949; certificates of appointment, 1940, 1945; documents relating to military service with the 28th London Regiment, 1918-1919, and the Royal Irish Constabulary, 1916-1922; and miscellaneous passes and receipts, 1922-1945, printed and near-print items, 1928-1980, and newspaper clippings, 1944-1951.

Fonds also consists of 8 photographs, ca. 1920-1970, including a World War II U.S. Army photo of V.W. Scully and a depiction of the christening of V.W. Scully.

Also included are 5 medallic items, 1947-1967, which consist of 1 Canadian Confederation Centennial medal; 1 order of St. Michael and St. George Companion's badge; 1 U.S.A. Medal of Freedom with palm; 1 U.S.A. Medal of Freedom lapel badge; and 1 U.S.A. Medal of Freedom brooch with palm.

Scully, Vincent William, 1900-1980 : Vincent William Scully, businessman, public servant, was born and educated in Ireland, and served with the Royal Irish Constabulary, 1918-1922. He was subsequently an accountant with Clarkson, Gordon, Dilworth and Nash. During World War II he was president of War Supplies Ltd., 1941-1944 and president of Victory Aircraft, 1944-1945. In recognition of his wartime contribution. Scully was made companion of St. Michael and St. George in 1946 and awarded the United States Medal of Freedom in 1947.

Mr. Scully was Vice-President, National Research Council from 1945-1947 and deputy minister of Reconstruction and Supply, 1945-1948 and of National Revenue, 1948-1951. He then took a senior post at the Steel Company of Canada Limited, retiring as chairman in 1971.
