"This map shows the disposition of the British and French forces during the siege of Quebec, 1759. The map, according to the map notes, is based on the surveys of Capt. Digby, Capt. Holland and Lieut. Debarres [sic]. The accompanying text outlines the troop movements during the siege, the British forces involved in the attack, the encampments at Point Orleans, Point Levi, Point des Peres and Montmorency as well as the French and English positions at Beauport."

"The name "Clegg" appears on the map but comparison with other copies of the map shows that the correct spelling is "Glegg". The map appeared in Melish's A military and topographical atlas of the United States;... Philadelphia, published in 1813 and 1815 and also in Official documents relative to the operations of the British Army employed in the reduction of the Canadas. Philadelphia, 1813. The Collection has 2 other copies of this map. (See note 1). They differ from this one in their colouring and their spelling of "siege" and "Glegg" in the title piece. None of the copies bear the plate numbers described in Phillips, nos. 1346 and 1347."
