Manitoba Regional Office : Since the 1919 creation of the Department of Health, there has been a federal health presence in the regions. The functions of the Income Security Programs Branch (ISPB), such as the promotion and the preservation of the social security and social welfare of Canadians, have always demanded a regional presence. Other functions included: the administration of income support programs in retirement income to the elderly, as well as assistance to families with children. Since its definitive formation as a branch in 1975, ISPB has had regional offices specifically devoted to its mandate.
