Fonds consists of speeches on a variety of topics delivered in the 1950s and 1960s, n.d., 1953-1961; articles, books reviews and reports dealing with immigration, civil rights, international relations, and government commissions, n.d., 1936-1962; an autobiography, 1966; North Atlantic Studies Centre material relating to Angus' proposal to establish such a centre in Canada, 1954; books representing H.F. Angus' war diaries, transcribed by Angus' mother, Mrs. M.E. Angus, transcript, 1914-1919, as well as an article and poem by Mrs. A.M. Angus, n.d., 1951.

The fonds also contains a photographic portrait of the staff and members of the Rowell-Sirois Commission, 1938.

Angus, H. F. (Henry Forbes), born 1891 : Henry Forbes Angus was born in Victoria, B.C. and educated at McGill University and Oxford. During World War I he served in India in the Wiltshire Territorials, and in Mesopotamia, as a member of the First-Fourth Dorsets. He lectured in law for the Khaki University before joining the staff of the University of British Columbia in 1922. In 1924 he married Anne Margaret Anderson.

Professor Angus has written on many domestic and international topics, has been a member of the Institute of Pacific Relations, the Royal Commission on Dominion-Provincial Relations, 1937-1940, and others and has served as Special Secretary to the Under Secretary of State for External Affairs. He was head of the Department of Economics, Political Science and Sociology and Dean of the Faculty of Graduate Studies, at the University of British Columbia, retiring in 1956.

Textual records and photograph received in 1977 from H.F. Angus and Mrs. A.M. Angus. The records were returned after being transcribed.

Note de citation/référence :

Mrs. M.E. Angus wrote and privately published two books, "Diary of M.E. Angus 1914-1918", which complements the transcribed war correspondence from her son, in series 5 and an autobiography entitled, "Chapters of Life".
