Fonds consists of photographs depicting activities, officers, members, and conventions of the Canadian Women's Press Club.Provenance :Biographie/Histoire administrative :Canadian Women's Press Club. Toronto Branch : The Canadian Women's Press Club, Toronto Branch was organized in 1909 by female reporters of the city's newspapers. Serving primarily social functions, the club has brought members and guests together for teas, luncheons and theatrical events at which money was collected to support the activities of the organization. At club luncheons notable personalities in journalism and related fields have addressed club members and friends on subjects of interest to them. The club has sponsored study sessions in short story writing, has offered awards in journalism and related fields, and in co-operation with other organizations, such as the Toronto Men's Press Club, has sought to improve the calibre of journalism in Canada.
