This consists of eight interview and actuality cuts recorded for the CBC radio series Our Canada, telling the story of the ordinary people, events and developments in the railways, wheatlands, waterways, mines, airways, industries, communications, arts, governments, philanthropies and religions that have shaped Canada. An unidentified man talks about his Loyalist ancestor Captain John [Savage]. There are two cuts of this. An unidentified man at the École Polytechnique, a faculty of applied sciences at the University of Montreal, discussed the school's research into the mechanical properties of metals, in collaboration with the National Research Council. He discusses the need for this research in the war effort. There are two cuts of this. There are four cuts of machinery, including the clanging of bells and possibly a steam locomotive.
