Fonds consists of photographs by Andrew Howard Miller depicting railroad construction, activities of gravimetric survey parties in the West and the North, and surveying instruments. The photographs also illustrate various views of Canada and Europe.

Fonds also contains textual records which include publications, correspondence and reports of A.M. Miller, 1920-1951, 80 cm.

Fonds includes three medals: one medal presented by the Bishop of Rupert's Land, St. John School, Winnipeg, a Lieutenant-Governor's Medal Honor Mathematics, 1905, and a lapel pin of the International Union of Godesy and Geophysics, Washington, 1939.

Miller, Andrew Howard, 1886-1962 : A.H. Miller, geophysicist, was born in Teulon, Manitoba on 13 June 1886. After attending a local school he went to St. John's College, Winnipeg and the University of Manitoba. He won a Rhodes Scholarship and earned an M.A. from Oxford in 1910. After serving in the Canadian Field Artillery in World War I, Miller joined the Dominion Observatory in 1920. He soon became interested in gravity measurements and isostasy. Careful measurements of variations in the earth's gravity yielded details about the earth's interior and could be used to evaluate geological theories. Miller made trips down the MacKenzie River in 1921 and in 1922, which provided the first gravitational values north of the Arctic Circle. He also started to systematically collect gravitation values from across Canada. In 1928 Miller visited Britain and Europe to study their gravitational standards. He succeeded in linking various European and Canadian standards to each other.

During the 1930s Miller applied his gravitational studies to the search for minerals in Nova Scotia, the Sudbury Basin and the Prairies. During World War II Miller worked with the National Research Council to establish a standard gauge laboratory. After the war Miller used new portable instruments to personally measure gravity from the Maritimes to British Columbia. Just before his retirement from the Dominion Observatory in 1951, he began to investigate airborne methods of measuring gravity.

Miller was a member of the Royal Astronomical Society of Canada, the Royal Society of Canada and the Associate Committee of Geodsy and Geophysics of the National Research Council. Miller died on 11 March 1962.
