In 1841 he was transferred to New Liverpool, Quebec where he served the firm for 44 years. He maintained an interest in Presscott County affairs, including the militia, and later returned to manage his father's farm at Vankleek Hill with his brother. When the 18th Battalion was formed at Hawkesbury Mills in 1862, Higginson was appointed Captain of No. 1 Company, rising to lieutenant-colonel by 1867.Information additionnelle :Note de citation/référence :Refer to HISTORY OF THE COUNTIES OF ARGENTEUIL, QUEBEC, AND PRESCOTT, ONTARIO.
