Recherche dans la collection - Canadian movie premiere of Irving Berlin's This is the Army [graphic material]

Accession includes photographs taken at the Canadian movie premiere of Irving Berlin's "This is the Army''. The event took place at the newly constructed TITA Theatre at McCrae, near Whitehorse, Yukon Territory. The theatre was built during the construction of the Alaska Highway, and the construction was funded by one of the highway's private contractors and by the American army.

The photographs depict the exterior and the interior of the TITA Theatre, group portraits of individuals at the event, and broadcaster J. Frank Willis interviewing individuals for the CBC radio coverage of the premiere.

The photographs were extracted from the Yukon Territorial Records sous-fonds (RG91). They were transferred to the Historical Photographs Section of the Picture Division on Jan. 21, 1971 and accessioned as photo acc. no. 1972-15.
