Sinclair including accounts of his great grandfather's arrival in Canada in 1816; some of his own experiences as a boy and young man in Glengarry; his work as a lumber dealer and his involvement in church activities in Winnipeg; and his experiences as a homesteader. The fonds also includes a copy of the above-described typescript autobiography, with corrections and annotations by Keith MacIntosh.Provenance :Biographie/Histoire administrative :Sinclair, Charles Robertson, 1845-1931 : C.R. Sinclair was a farmer, businessman and lumber dealer in his home county of Glengarry, Ontario, until a depression in the industry, and a desire to try his luck in the West, took him in 1881 to Winnipeg where he again entered the lumber industry. Poor business conditions in 1907 and his inclination to farming led him to settle on a homestead near Camrose, Alberta in 1908.
