The album contains information on the career of Frederick Arthur Verner, including copies of two Turner paintings (1857) one of Venice and the other of Lake Como, done when Verner was studying at Leigh's Academy in London and would have had access to the Turner collection at the National Gallery. In addition the album contains 3 lithographs by Verner with his initials, reproductions of Notman, Maynard, Tyrell and other photographers from Alberta, B.C. and Manitoba of various native groups, animals and landscapes which he would have used as models. There are also small landscape sketches by Verner from Canada (eg. On the Gatineau), Venezuela (where he went in 1865) and in England and Guernsey. In addition there is a small portrait drawing of an officer from Garibaldi's British Legion which Verner joined in 1860 (the verso has an Italian landscape) and a larger watercolour portrait of a Colonel Loftus, 3rd West York Militia, dated 1858.
