This is a program in the Monday-to-Friday news and information series TODAY. In addition to several newscasts and weather reports, the program consists of the following features: an interview about the withdrawal of Soviet troops from Afghanistan; the fight against drug abuse in high schools; an interview with former baseball player Willie Mays; speculation on who will be the vice presidential candidate selected by the Democrat's presidential candidate Michael Dukakis; a report by Viscount Althorp (the brother of the Princess of Wales) on the von Hapsburg royal family; a preview of Bob Hope's 85th birthday celebration; an interview of journalist Jim Lehrer about his novel Kick the Can; an interview about Robert Kennedy with three of his children---Kerry Kennedy, Michael Kennedy and Kathleen Townsend; a brief local (Rochester, New York) newscast; and an interview with Peggy Charren, founder of the group Action for Children's Television, on the occasion of the group's 20th anniversary. The network newscasts on this program include a report by Peter Kent of NBC from Kabul, Afghanistan, on the departure of the Soviet troops. <2h>
