The cartoons comprising this fonds were initially offered to the National Archives for purchase in 1989, by the publishers of "Northern Life" and "Northern Ontario Business." Part of this group [80 cartoons] was purchased from the artist himself in 1989 [accession no. 1989-133] . The remainder was sent to the Ontario Archives for consideration for acquisition. They declined to acquire them and they were sent back to the National Archives in 1994. The cartoonist died in 1991, and the contact for the estate was obscured until 2005 - recent contact with a family member allowed the contact to be re-established, and this second portion of 84 cartoons to be acquired.
