Program in the CBC Radio series AS TIME GOES BY, a nostalgic series recalling the three golden decades of radio from 1925 to 19255, drawing upon recordings from the CBC archives and other public and private collections.~Host J. Frank Willils comments on radio coverage of the three Royal Tours (1939 - 1951 and 1957). The following broadcast excerpts were used as illustrations:~King George VI and MacKenzie King speak at the welcoming reception of the First Tour in 1939.~E.L. Bushnell (General Supervisor of Programs) describes the problems of covering a Royal Tour.~Various Indian chiefs comment on the Royal Tour of 1939.~Royal Tour diary - a typical program during the tour - on Victoria Day; greetings from Commonwealth with music by Peter Faith.~Farewell ceremonies from Halifax.~Princess Elizabeth (15 years old) broadcasts appeal not to lose hope during World War II.~Winston Churchill talks of the second Queen Elizabeth and the heritage she has from the first.~Various "bloopers" which announcers have let slip, during live spontaneous coverage.~Prince Philip thanking Toronto Business men's Association for a luncheon given (in 1951).~An account of a reception given at Hamilton for Princess Elizabeth and Prince Philip.~An account (by John Fisher) of a reception given the Royal Couple at Kamloops, British Columbia.~A recording of an Indian ceremony at Victoria, British Columbia, given to Prince Philip and Princess Elizabeth.~Opening of Parlaiment ceremony including Black Rod.~Queen Elizabeth II gives speech from the Throne during visit in 1957. <1h>
