Women's Program Secretary of StateDistributeur d'origine :National Archives of CanadaDescription :TOWARDS EQUALITY : A HISTORY OF WOMEN IN CANADA provides a concise, feminist analysis of the role of women in the development of Canada. Through the use of a variety of works of art, photographs, and motion pictures, accompanied by both narration and voiceover effects, the viewer is introduced to the major events and players in Canadian women's history.~The documentary follows a chronological format, highlighting important people such as the Ursuline Nuns, pioneer Catherine Parr Traill, and suffragettes Nellie McClung and Emily Murphy. Pivotal events such as the Married Women's Property Act, the granting of suffrage to women after the First World War, the 1929 Person's Act, and the effects of World War I and II are all given due representation in this piece. Producer and writer Jo MacFadden brings her analysis to the present, including the Royal Commission on the Status of Women and its key player, Florence Bird. <20mn>Langue :EnglishRemarques :Détails de l'inventaire : -
