This is the ninth program in a 10-part half-hour series described in the broadcasts as a catalogue devoted to the exploration of the moving image in the last decade. This program features clips of the following productions: A 1976 award-winning short film, BLACK FOREST TRADING POST, by filmmakers Andrew Lugg and Stuart Klein, that uses scenic images matted with the image of a souvenir shop. It is intended to challenge conventional perception of what is true and what is false (two minute excerpt); four excerpts from a 22 minute videotape of a performance art presentation by Vancouver performance artist Paul Wong in 1987, entitled BODY FLUID. The performance was taped before a live audience; a brief excerpt from the computer-generated animation short A LONG RAY'S JOURNEY INTO LIGHT, created in 1986 by Michael Sciulli of Apollo Computer Corp. A character from another universe journeys through a strange land; three excerpts from the 1984 feature-length film KOYANNISQATSI by producer/director Godfrey Reggio and composer Philip Glass. The title is derived from the Hopi Indian language for "Crazy Life", "Life out of Balance" and "A state of life that calls for another way of being"; a 3 1/2 minute excerpt of the 1986 videotape HAVE YOU EVER HAD A NUCLEAR NIGHTMARE, by video artist Marilyn Burgess. The images were shot on Super 8 during a demonstration by women in Montreal and manipulated during the video editing; the complete animated short film PRIMITI TOO TAA, produced and directed by Colon Morton and Ed Ackerman in 1986. It is an excerpt from the Dada poem Ursonate (Sonata in Primitive Sounds) by Kurt Schwitters; and eight short segments from the feature-length film AMERIKA, made by Al Razutis, one reel at a time, from 1972-1983. <30mn>.
