After a short introduction emphasizing the importance of Canada's rivers for transportation and trade, the film focuses on the early fur trade. It explains the trapping process and the moving of furs from western Canada to Montreal. Matt Bernard, an Algonquin Indian chief, his son Maurice and his wife, demonstrate the traditional method of building a birch-bark canoe, detailing each step required and using only tools which would have been available to the Indians at the time of the fur trade. Upon completion of the canoe, the film details its voyage to Montreal, through portages and over rapids.Langue :EnglishRemarques :Détails de l'inventaire : -
