Mr. Layton begins by explaining his immigrating to Canada, the anti-semitism in Europe, and the Jewish way of life with respect to the economy, the radicals and schooling. He then proceeds to talk about political ideologies such as socialism (Young Peoples Socialist League - Yipzells), Communism and fascism. He comments on Duplessis' pad lock laws and continues to explain influences on his poems, his likes and dislikes as well as a recitation of a few of his poems. Other topics covered were as such; The Spanish Civil War, his career in teaching, Canadian Culture, contemporary women's poems and Christianity versus pessimism. Persons discussed throughout the interview are: Suzanne Rosenberg, David Lewis, Mordicai Richler, A.M.
