A television documentary which chronicles the events on the campus of Montreal's McGill University in December 1968, when political science students occupied the offices of their professors. Liberal faculty member professor Michael Brecher and radical lecturer Stanley Gray representing two opposing sides of the confrontation, present their views of the student action. The first three days of negotiations are recorded by McGill Closed Circuit Television and mediator, professor Donald Theall, comments on his involvement. Faculty negotiaters include department chairman professor J.R. Mallory and professor Brecher. Demands and criticisms regarding the role of the university are voiced by student commissioners: Harvey Cowen; Arnold August; and Chris Nelson. The camera also records a meeting with McGill principal H. Rocke Robertson and deansH.D. Woods; Maxwell Cohen and G.L. d'Ombrain, and vice principal Michael Oliver, who discuss student involvement in hiring practices following the occupation. In a management class, lecturer David Daitchman discusses the events with class members, many of whom feel the political science students acted irresponsibly. At the end of the program, a university Senate decision to dismiss student supporter Stanley Gray is announced.
