Head table guests were: [Neil Gaskin], CAA board chairman [Kiess C. Pilly]. Longtime automobile executive and chief executive officer of Canada Post [Donald H. Lander], board vice-chairman, CAA Toronto Wayne L. [Hucussi], CNE president Derwyn S. Shea, Uniroyal Goodrich Canada executive Tom [Ench]. Donald H. Lander is introduced by [Pilly]. Lander compares the postal and automobile industries. Then he explains the problems with the postal system and the proposed solutions. The problems include the unions, increased stress on rural and suburban postal systems and disparity between postal stations. The solutions proposed are longer hours, new locations and a self-service mail pickup system.
