This accession consists of an assortment of records of investigations into air accidents. Accident investigation files may include some or all of the following documents: the accident report and drafts, correspondence, statement of events, wreckage diagrams, witness statements, weather reports, engineering reports, log books and pictorial evidence of the crash site or damaged aircraft.

Most are regional files, and may have been loaned to headquarters at various times and not returned. The bulk of investigation records for this period can be found in other accessions to this sub-sub-series.

While this accession contains textual materials some files include graphic material and sound recordings which have not been segregated from the original file.
