Part one of a three-part television series of historical dramatic essays on the American Revolution, focusing on the concerted efforts of the thirteen colonies to get Quebec to join their revolutionary cause. With host and narrator, John T. Saywell, this episode begins in the autumn of 1774, when the First Continental Congress in Philadelphia decided to win Quebec and an effective propaganda campaign was launched to elicit support amongst the French habitants, particularly in Montreal where there was some pro-American activity. Appearing in the major roles are: Mavor Moore as Thomas Walker, pro-Revolutionary Montreal fur merchant; Bill Needles as George Washington, who was to become commander-in-chief of the revolutionary army; James Edmond as John Adams, a patriot leader who was to become the second U.S. president; Ivor Barry as Governor Carleton of Quebec; and Bertrand Gagnon as Bishop Briand. <30mn>
