Born in Australia, Keppie toured with the Pollard Juvenile Opera Company, and describes William Howdry of Toronto at the Princess Theatre in the early 1900's. Keppie worked at the Lowe Uptown Theatre Stock Company in Toronto for approximately 9 years circa the 1920s for Marcus Lowe. He lists the pre-"talkies" theatres in Toronto, the booking agencies (Klaw and Erlanger for example). Also describes are Ambrose Small and American ownership of theatres in Toronto. Keppie also describes his own work in New York and Ambrose Small's reputation there. He states that Canadians preferred British to American shows.Langue :EnglishRemarques : -
