An account of the activities of American and Canadian troops in France. Sequences on American soldiers street fighting, firing rifles, breaking down doors, and seeking cover. Civilians appear in many shots, looking on and waving at their liberators. German soldiers surrender, are marched past the camera, and are interrogated. British (or Canadian) tanks and infantry are shown advancing through a field and a ruined town as well as racing for cover as bullets pepper the wall above their heads. Sequences on tanks firing and vehicles moving through a town. Women collaborators are shown getting their heads shaved as a crowd looks on. American soldiers distribute food to civilians. Final sequence of shots of Falaise under attack with bright explosions in the distance and German prisoners. <9mn>
